Well, as of last week, many of us will still be under a stay at home order, so as we turn to another month, it's even more important to love our surroundings. In my heart, I have always understood this even as a little girl designing my bedroom and later in college after late nights, I would return home to strip varnish from my aunt's antique bed I had been gifted. In my first home I had a mural painted of a Connecticut countryside to remind my husband of his childhood. See a pattern? Yes, long before I began a career in design, I nested.
It's not as hard as you think and can offer big rewards. Thanks to online shopping and home delivery, during this time when we are forced to stay home, I hope you will use some of these ideas to freshen your nest. After all, Spring is still an ideal season for it!
Rearrange your furniture: Start by thinking about how you want to live in your space. How do you live and is it best serving your needs. Regardless of how much square footage you have, you should live smart. Be honest and clear all preconceived ideas. Next measure out furniture you want to use and any potential next purchases and tape off where you would like them to go. And then ideally, move as much around as you can and live with it for a few days to see how it feels.
Style with accessories and art: Clear all of your tables, surfaces, and any bookshelves and stack everything in one spot. Inventory what you have. Do you like all of the pieces? If not, edit and feel good about it. A few things you love are better than a bunch of filler. If you are a maximist, still get rid of what you don't love, you can replace with new selections. Now you're set to refresh. It's helpful to have various heights, textures, and green. For a side table, a set of three works great. Go with a lamp, add a medium height, and then go with a small piece. Look over your arrangement and make sure the shapes relate to each other. For a coffee table, it's about the proportion of the table size to the pieces on the table. For a large table, either go with three larger items or five for smaller pieces.

I hope you enjoyed browsing these beautifully styled tables. They are all special for various compositions of colour and texture. If you would like some assistance with your space, during this period at home, I am offering virtual appointments. Reach out to grab yours india@stillmagnoliadesign.com.
