It's May and in most years that means it's home tour season! Yes, it's that creative frenzy time of year so many of us look forward to when the weather warms and we feel refreshed and ready to take on new design projects. And usually in my case some fun lunch and drinks with girlfriends to share notes.

In this post, I'm excited to share some of my personal highlights from past showhouses. Unfortunately this year, they are all being delayed, but as the work started months ago way before COVID19, designers have been working hard and investing in their spaces, so stay tuned for specific show programming. Worthy charities rely on the income from these productions and it is due to the talented designers, gracious host homeowners, sponsors and volunteers that these are such successful fundraisers.

So whether you are attending a Showhouse featuring professional designers or a local Housewalk/Tour of Homes, enjoy the creativity and know tremendous work goes into these and your support is appreciated!

One of my favorite Showhouses, is the Serenbe Designer Showhouse and it will have me hopping on a plane to catch it. The annual Serenbe Designer Showhouse is located in a natural setting just 30 minutes South of Atlanta, The New York Times describes Serenbe is a "utopian experiment in New Urbanism being molded out of the Georgia red clay." It is a unique spot developed in the last ten years that features various homes, an Inn, stables, golf, multiple restaurants, quint shopping, a spa, an animal farm, a playhouse, and art galleries all arranged among trees and rolling hills. Food is really big deal, so expect all farm to table ingredients and creative Southern cuisine as Serenbe was founded by two of Atlanta's food royals. Plan a trip during show season way in advance as space at the Inn gets booked. This makes for romantic getaway complete with cooking classes and wine tastings!

Now that your sold on this gorgeous community, wait to you see the homes!

Make sure to take a tour through Serenbe Real Estate, but here we are at our Serenbe Showhouse 2019. Let's go in...

Even the entry up the walk was special for this home. You definitely feel your surroundings as you approach.

True to its Southern roots, there is a gracious and comfortable porch to greet you at the door.

And an elegant yet inviting back porch full of natural greens and weathered finishes, complete with pillows for a nap and curtains to catch a Spring breeze.

At the front entry, this grasscloth and Turkish rug elevate the space with an antique table, but keep to the natural environment for a smooth transition from outside in. Also, note the art installation is fabulous!

This table setting is full of floral fauna with pops of color against the rattan that keeps this suitable for a fancy dinner party or a night in with a couple of friends.

In the family room just off the kitchen, this piece offers a dose of organic color mixed with a very chic gallery wall reminding us that just because you're in a farmhouse, doesn't mean you can't have high style.

I especially love this girls room because it proves that pink does not have to be sappy and sugary, but can be sophisticated. I love how the pink mixes with the latest trend in terracotta to keep this on trend AND timeless.

I hope you enjoyed a trip with me back to my home state of Georgia, Serenebe was in my backyard for years and I love the peaceful quality you feel just driving in, but it has so much to offer, that you never get bored. To view more information about this community, visit Serenbe.

I also would encourage you to check out my post from last years House Walk in my new community of Western Springs for some highlights. I was honored to be one of the designers and featured some of my work as well as other talents in the area. Western Springs House Walk 2019.

Until we can all stroll among these beauties again, keep the faith and look for inspiration all around you. It's there!
